Shirin Oloumi Knerr

Shirin Oloumi Knerr is a Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice, serving since September 2022, with a focus on appeals, writs, and trials. Previously, Shirin held the position of Assistant District Attorney at the San Francisco District Attorney's Office from February 2012 to August 2021, leading the Auto Crimes Unit and collaborating with federal and local law enforcement to develop criminal cases. Shirin began a legal career as a law clerk in various roles at the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, gaining experience in preliminary hearings, domestic violence, general litigation, narcotics, and misdemeanors. Additionally, Shirin served as a teaching assistant and research assistant at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where participation included guiding international LL.M. students and conducting legal research. Shirin obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco in 2011 and a Bachelor of Arts in English from UCLA in 2007.
