Sandra DeLong

Assistant Director of Special Education at California Virtual Academies

Ms. DeLong graduated from the Hope College, Holland, Michigan, with a bachelor's degree in special education. She holds two master's degrees, one in educational administration from San Francisco State University, and one in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University, Irvine. She has dedicated 27 years to serving students with a wide-range of abilities, as well as supporting their families. She has served 14 years as a special education teacher in grades K-12, 5 years as an instructional coach developing special education programs, and 8 years in administrative roles as a superintendent of schools, principal, special education director, and program specialist. Ms. DeLong is passionate about improving student outcomes through better communication between schools and families. As the assistant director of special education she looks forward to supporting the growth of better programing and systems to ensure that the individual needs of students are being met. She looks forward to making lasting relationships with the students, families, and staff of California Virtual Academies.
