Sophie Marwieh James

Sophie Marwieh James has extensive work experience in the field of water quality. Sophie began their career at the City of Sunnyvale in 1992 as a Sr. Environmental Chemist. Sophie held this role for 14 years before joining California Water Service in 2006 as the Manager of Laboratory Services. Sophie then progressed to become the Director of Water Quality in 2014, a position they held until 2022 when they were promoted to Chief Water Quality Officer.

Sophie Marwieh James pursued their education in the field of chemistry, starting with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from Missouri Western State University. Sophie attended from 1990 to 1992. Building on this foundation, Sophie completed their Master of Science (M.S.) in Analytical Chemistry from San Jose State University, studying from 1998 to 2002.
