Salary Range: £40,000- £50,000

About the Role

This role will report to the Head of IT and help undertake the support, operations and configuration of the IT systems, for the offices in Chilmark, Fonthill, at home, or Bristol.

You will be focusing on delivering exceptional business facing operational IT support across our teams such as Software engineering, engineering, manufacturing and other supporting teams.

You and your direct reports will also be responsible for leading the delivery, maintenance, enhancements and security of the company’s Operational IT functions.

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT Support function, ensuring efficient resolution of user issues and inquiries
  • Manage hardware and software procurement processes, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with business needs
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors and ensure the delivery of quality IT services.
  • Lead and manage IT projects
  • Coach and manage a team of IT Support analysts, fostering a positive and supportive work environment
  • Implement well-defined procedures for incident and service request management, prioritising tasks and ensuring timely resolution
  • Establish and maintain high standards for customer service, ensuring a positive user experience
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and system integration.
  • Implement a regime for continuous improvement
  • Oversee and, for some applications, execute patches and updates.
  • Supporting other business systems including collaborative working tools, software engineering and engineering tools, design tools
  • Work with the Head of IT to develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient use of technology.
  • Perform other related duties as required

About You

Skills:

Essential

  • Strong experience working in IT, with a focus on operation management, is required.
  • A strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networks, databases, and security. Additionally, knowledge of IT service management and project management are also desirable.
  • A strong understanding of IT support desk and operations processes, including incident and service request management
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Excellent problem-solver with strong decision-making skills
  • Team player, able to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to oversee change management and associated project management.
  • Experience managing licenses, domains, and other recurring services.
  • A strong technical grounding and experience working with a range of vendors.
  • A sound understanding of the M365
  • Experience with MS Azure, Intune, Defender, and security & compliance fundamentals.
  • Experience with Linux
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation.
  • Problem solving and multitasking.
  • Microsoft Windows desktop, server and Hyper-V.
  • Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • Line of Business applications, e.g. Solidworks.
  • Server, desktop and laptop hardware.

Desirable

  • Ideally with experience in an engineering company and MOD supplier
  • Systems within secure/regulated environments.

Personal Attributes

  • Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK

  • Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK

  • Ability to commit to national and international travel

  • Team player who is capable of working autonomously
