Miguel Gutierrez Jr. is an experienced visual editor and multimedia producer with a strong background in photography and video production. Currently serving as Visuals Editor at CalMatters, Miguel has enhanced workflows, budgeting, and archival systems while fostering a network of visual freelancers. Previously, Miguel held roles at Texas Tribune as a Photographer & Photo Editor, where responsibilities included managing the photography department and budgeting, as well as collaborating on various multimedia projects. Other notable positions include Video & Multimedia Producer for the Office of the New York State Attorney General and KUT Public Media, along with experience as a Documentary Production Fellow and in various educational and community-based roles. Miguel holds a Dual Master of Arts in Journalism and Latin American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
