Vasuki Sunder

Vasuki Sunder is currently a Product Designer at CalMatters, a role they have held since 2022. Prior to this, they were a User Experience Designer, where they designed websites and logos for local small business clients, resulting in up to 180% higher site engagement and 50% greater profits. Vasuki also worked with clients to create strong brand identities and develop style guides, including typography, color palettes, and icons. From 2017 to 2018, they were a HCI/UX Design Research Assistant at the University of California San Diego, where they collaborated with a team designing a civic engagement app that empowered the local community to engage in urban design ideas, resulting in 352 contributions and an average 10-minute engagement. Vasuki also helped conduct user research and ~30 interviews; collected user data to better support diverse skill levels and availability and create more inclusive design. From 2014 to 2017, they were a Research Intern at Stony Brook University.

Vasuki Sunder completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Human Computer Interaction from UC San Diego in 2018. In 2020, they attended BloomTech to study Full Stack Web Development. Prior to this, they attended Monta Vista High School from 2010 to 2014.
