Som Dutt

Som Dutt has a diverse and strong background in scientific research and development. Som is currently the Head of Data & Protein Science at Calpion Inc. Since joining in 2022, they have been responsible for leading data and protein science initiatives. Prior to this, from 2020 to 2022, Som Dutt worked as a CSIR Pool Scientist at Doon University, Dehradun. In this role, they contributed to scientific research projects. Before that, from 2017 to 2019, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Leeds, where they focused on Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry. During this time, they worked on the development of orthosteric protein-protein interaction inhibitors. Additionally, they conducted research on SIM/SUMO1 interactions and the discovery of peptidomimetic inhibitors. From 2015 to 2016, Som Dutt worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Purdue University, where they were involved in medicinal chemistry research. Som focused on designing inhibitors for SYK kinase for the treatment of sickle cell disease and malaria. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2015, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Geneva. Here, they developed a novel approach for generating constrained peptides and discovered a catalyst with enhanced phosphatase activity. Lastly, from 2009 to 2012, Som Dutt worked as a PhD Student at the University of Duisburg-Essen. During their doctoral studies, they focused on the development of molecular tweezers for the prevention of protein misfolding diseases, with a particular focus on Alzheimer's disease and Type 2 diabetes. Overall, Som Dutt's work experience showcases their expertise in various aspects of scientific research, including computational methods, peptide synthesis, molecular modeling, chemical biology, and medicinal chemistry.

Som Dutt holds a Master's Degree in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, which they obtained from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Physical Sciences from D A V College Muzaffar Nagar between 2001 and 2004. Som also has a certification in Master of Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, although the exact month and year of obtaining the certification are not provided.
