Job description

The Sales and Use Tax Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of our clients’ sales and use tax audits, advising on tax planning strategies, and compliance, including filing returns. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and extensive knowledge of state and local tax laws, excellent analytical skills. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

The Sales and Use Tax manager will have the opportunity to lead and mentor a dedicated team of professionals while working directly with clients. Candidates will gain exposure to professional development through both internal and external training opportunities.

Key Skills and Qualities for Success:

  •      Managing sales and use tax audits, including gathering documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and negotiating settlements.
  •      Conducting research on complex sales and use tax issues and providing guidance on tax implications to clients.
  •      Managing and overseeing the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
  •      Monitoring changes in tax legislation and staying informed on current market trends to uphold your reputation as a reliable advisor.
  •      Understanding clients' business activities and fostering strong relationships to provide personalized advice tailored to their unique needs.

Requirements:

  •      Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  •      An achieved or partially achieved CPA or CMI qualification or the ability to sit for the bar.
  •      Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and use tax, preferably including a managerial role.
  •      In-depth knowledge of state and local sales and use tax regulations.
  •      Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  •      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  •      Proficient in tax research tools and ERP systems.
