Tânia Bastos

First Vice President at Câmara Municipal do Rio de Janeiro

Tânia Bastos is in her fourth term as councilor. She is currently vice-president of the City Council of Rio de Janeiro. She is from Sergipe, resident of Ilha do Governador, arrived in Rio de Janeiro when she was only six years old. Graduated in pedagogy, with specialization in social assistance; educational guidance and supervision; and postgraduate studies in public management.

The parliamentarian is the author of at least nine laws that benefit autistic people, including early diagnosis; multiprofessional care; access to education and the labor market. One of the laws of his authorship highlighted is Municipal Law 6.101/2016, which determines that public and private establishments include the global symbol of autism on priority service boards.

She was president of the Permanent Commission for the Defense of Women of the Chamber of Rio for eight years, defending public policies in favor of women's rights, where during her presidency the Rio de Janeiro Women's Council (CODIM-RJ) was created.

He worked for 11 years in a private educational institution, where he began his pedagogical career and acted in various actions of promotion and attention to the family. She was a guardianship counselor and regional coordinator of the Municipal Department of Social Assistance, when she managed 92 day care centers, 22 social centers, two shelters, one for family and the other for teenagers. She participated in social projects such as Rio Experiente, Special Child Labor Program, ProJovem, acquiring extensive experience in activities aimed at children, women, young people and the elderly.

Tânia Bastos assumed the municipal presidency of the then Brazilian Republican Party (PRB), currently called Republicans, in 2006, and was a parliamentary advisor to the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro.

She was elected for the first time as a councilor in 2009, and has been reelected, for exercising her role as a parliamentarian with dedication and concern for the population of Rio, working with great responsibility, closely following the demands of the population.
