Martin Howes

Martin Howes is an experienced sustainability professional currently serving as an Operations Environment Specialist at Cambridge University Press & Assessment since July 2023. Prior to this role, Martin was a member of the Sustainability Team at the University of Cambridge from January 2015 to June 2023, where responsibilities included calculating carbon emissions, reducing the carbon impact of research facilities, and implementing sustainability initiatives. Martin held several positions during this tenure, including Assistant Carbon Manager, Sustainable Labs Co-ordinator, and Energy Co-ordinator, with notable achievements such as project managing a highly commended LED retrofit project and leading the Green Reps network. Before this, Martin worked as an Energy Management Co-ordinator at Camerons Brewery, managing energy and utility efficiency. Martin holds a BSc (Hons) in Physical Geography from Lancaster University and participated in an exchange program focused on Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Wollongong.
