Propulsion Engineer at Cambridge University Spaceflight

Yen Li Yeap is an accomplished UROP Researcher at Whittle Laboratory since July 2024, working on the inverse design of high-efficiency turbomachinery. Concurrently, Yen serves as an Officer Cadet in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, coordinating fundraising events for Médecins Sans Frontières and undergoing flying training. As a Propulsion Engineer with Cambridge University Spaceflight, Yen contributes to the development of the Griffin I rocket and the design of a parachute deployment system. Prior internships include roles at Leonardo, where Yen designed a radar/emulator algorithm, Cambium Networks, focusing on thermal analysis and environmental test chamber design, and a fundraising position at Emmanuel College, raising significant funds for student support. Yen's engineering experience is complemented by early exposure to automotive design principles at Bentley Motors and participation in an engineering virtual work experience program at Airbus. Currently studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Cambridge, Yen is building a solid foundation for a career in the aerospace sector.
