Danika Goosney

President & CEO at Canadian Museum of Nature

Goosney was born in Montreal and raised in Newfoundland. She holds a Bachelor of Science (honours) from St. Francis Xavier University, and a Ph.D. from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia, for which she was awarded the Governor General’s Gold Medal. Following postdoctoral training at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, she returned to Canada to work as a scientist at two Vancouver-based biotechnology companies. In 2006, Goosney relocated to Ottawa and joined the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, where she held key director-general positions before moving to the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and then NSERC.
