Lead, Corporate Integrity Advisory at Canadian Natural

Dean Carnes has over 20 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry. Dean began their career at TMK IPSCO as an Engineering Co-op, where they conducted failure analysis and laboratory work on pipeline steels. Dean then worked at Imperial Oil, starting as a Corrosion and Materials Engineering Co-op and later became a Corrosion and Materials Engineer. In this role, Dean supported corrosion management programs and provided expertise in materials selection, welding, corrosion control, inspection, and risk management. Dean then joined Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL), initially as an Integrity Engineer and later became a Lead of the Corporate Integrity Advisory group. Currently, Dean is responsible for leading a diverse group of senior engineers with expertise in pipeline integrity, safety and loss management, welding, wear-resistant technology, and continuous improvement.

Dean Carnes attended The University of British Columbia from 1996 to 2001, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering.
