Bas Gaal

Bas Gaal has over 20 years of work experience in various roles related to information security, compliance, and governance. Bas is currently serving as the Director of Information Security, Compliance & Audit at Canon Production Printing since 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Director of Information Security, Compliance and Governance at Canon Production Printing from 2020 to 2023.

Before joining Canon Production Printing, Bas Gaal worked at Océ Technologies B.V. for almost two decades. Bas started as a Senior IT-Audit Manager in 2002 and then progressed to various leadership roles. From 2012 to 2020, they served as the Director of Information Security, Compliance and Governance, where they were responsible for developing and implementing information security policies, improving ICT compliance and governance, and raising information security awareness. Prior to that, they served as the Program Director of IT Governance and ICT Compliance Officer from 2010 to 2012, and as the Program Director of IT Governance from 2008 to 2010.

Bas Gaal began their career as a Senior EDP-Auditor at Arthur Andersen Accountants from 1998 to 2002. Bas also worked as a Commissioned Officer at a governmental agency from 1992 to 1993.

Throughout their career, Bas Gaal has demonstrated expertise in information security, compliance, governance, and IT audit. Bas has a strong track record of developing and implementing frameworks, policies, and approaches to ensure effective and efficient IT operations.

Bas Gaal completed an Executive Master in IT Auditing from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University from 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, they obtained a Masters degree in Information Management and Auditing from Tilburg University, which they completed from 1994 to 1998. In 2010, they earned the CGEIT certification from ISACA. Bas Gaal also completed VWO (Atheneum) but the dates were not mentioned. Additionally, they obtained the Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) certification from ISACA in 2020.
