Ellen Woodcock has a diverse range of work experience in the field of cardiac physiology. Ellen started their career as a Trainee Clinical Cardiac Physiologist at the Canterbury District Health Board in 2005 and then moved to the Capital & Coast District Health Board in 2006. Ellen worked as a Trainee Clinical Cardiac Physiologist in both organizations. Ellen joined the University of Otago in 2008 as an Assistant Lecturer and held this position until 2013. In 2012, they joined Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury as a Clinical Cardiac Physiologist and worked in this role until 2015. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as a Trainee Cardiac Sonographer at Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury and then transitioned to the role of Cardiac Sonographer from 2017 to the present. Ellen also acted as the Acting Section Head of Echocardiography at Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury from February 2022 to August 2022. In 2020, they joined the University of Otago as a Clinical Lecturer and Research Sonographer. Overall, Ellen Woodcock has gained extensive experience in the areas of clinical cardiac physiology and echocardiography.
Ellen Woodcock completed their Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Otago in 2004. Ellen then pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Technology with a specialization in Cardiology from the same university, which they completed in 2007. Ellen then went on to obtain their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medicine from the University of Otago, which they completed in 2015. In 2016, Ellen attended QUT (Queensland University of Technology) to pursue a Graduate Diploma in Cardiac Ultrasound, which they completed in 2017.
