Brandon Tensley

Brandon Tensley is a notable journalist currently serving as the inaugural National Politics Reporter for Capital B, a nonprofit newsroom focusing on Black audiences, since February 2023. Previously, Brandon worked at CNN from August 2019 to February 2023 as a National Political Writer, where coverage centered on the intersections of culture, identity, and politics, including the creation of the Race Deconstructed newsletter. Earlier experience includes co-hosting Slate Magazine's LGBTQ podcast, Outward, and holding editorial positions at New America and Pacific Standard Magazine, emphasizing accessible journalism at the intersection of policy and culture. Brandon's professional journey also includes a fellowship with the Center for Strategic and International Studies and editorial work in Myanmar as a Luce Scholar. Educationally, Brandon holds a Master of Philosophy in Politics from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts in German Studies and Political Science from Furman University.
