Keith Mitchelson has a diverse work experience in the field of biotechnology, genomics, and molecular bioscience. Keith began their career in 1979 as a research scientist at Biophysics Laboratories, University of Portsmouth. Keith later worked as a research scientist at Horticulture International and as a Lecturer in Genetics at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
In 1996, Keith joined Forbio Research Pty as a Senior Scientist and then moved to the Australian Genome Research Foundation (AGRF) in 1999 as the Associate Director, Research. At AGRF, they played a crucial role in developing collaborative projects with institutions and clients in commercial genomics services for medical research, CRO activities, life science, and agricultural research. Keith was responsible for preparing collaborative business plans, grant applications, patents, and submissions for commercial interactions. Keith also contributed to the development of new diagnostic genomic technologies and fostered business relationships and projects with clients and scientific collaborators.
In 2001, Keith worked as a Senior Scientist at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland, and also served as the CSO at Combinomics during the same period. Keith played a significant role in both these organizations and contributed to scientific research and development.
Keith's international experience includes working as a Visiting Scholar at Tsinghua University in 2006 and as the VP International Business at CapitalBio from 2008 onwards.
Throughout their career, Keith has made valuable contributions to the field of biotechnology and genomics through their research, leadership roles, and collaborative projects.
Keith Mitchelson attended the University of Melbourne from 1967 to 1975, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (hons) and a Doctorate in Biochemistry.
