Athena Tran has a diverse work experience in the field of finance. Athena began their career as a Financial Service Associate/Representative at CIBC in 2007, where they specialized in designing financial plans and selling investment and credit products. In 2008, they joined Capital Power Corporation as an Operations Advisor, where they liaised with internal departments and facilitated company reorganization transition projects. Athena then transitioned to the role of Risk Monitoring Specialist, where they provided support for commodity trading activities. Athena further advanced in their career and became a Senior Credit Analyst, responsible for analyzing credit risks. Most recently, they held the position of Business Specialist at Capital Power Corporation, where they provided operational support for the Energy Trading and Risk Management system and facilitated new initiatives by gathering requirements, planning, and troubleshooting. Throughout their career, Athena has demonstrated strong communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and project planning skills.

Athena Tran attended the University of Calgary from 2001 to 2006, where they received a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Their fields of study were International Business and Economics. In 2003-2004, they participated in an Advanced Studies Exchange Program at The University of Manchester, focusing on Business Administration and Management. In 2007, they completed the Canadian Securities Course at the Canadian Securities Institute, and in 2008, they obtained a certification in the Conduct and Practices Handbook from the same institute. Additionally, in August 2020, Athena obtained a certification in Learning Data Analytics from LinkedIn.
