Fiona is a principal associate in the advisory team and specialises in supporting healthcare commissioners and providers with a wide range of matters, including Court of Protection matters, the Mental Health Act, Inquests, Judicial Reviews and funding disputes.
Fiona’s particular area of interest and expertise is the Mental Capacity Act and deprivation of liberty, and she represents healthcare commissioners and providers in Court of Protection and Inherent Jurisdiction proceedings. Fiona has advised clients on a wide variety of issues including serious medical treatment cases and complex welfare applications (including how to try to avoid them). Fiona has extensive experience of representing commissioners in welfare applications including Section 21A proceedings.
Fiona provides advice on the Mental Health Act and previously worked on secondment at a high secure psychiatric hospital.
Fiona also supports healthcare providers with Inquests, from supporting witnesses with how to give evidence all the way through to attending the Inquest on behalf of the Trust.
In addition, Fiona advises clients on the broad range of additional matters that the team offers. Fiona has supported clients with serious incident investigations, judicial review cases, complex complaint issues, funding disputes, CHC eligibility issues and HFEA regulation matters.
