Security Engineer at CAPTRUST

James Quintana has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. James started their career at Apple in 2014 as an AppleCare Senior Mac+ Advisor, where they handled technical support needs of customers, managed call flow, and provided consultations and escalations to other advisors. James then joined AT&T in 2017 as a Wire Technician, responsible for the installation and repair of fiber, copper, and DirecTV networks while delivering excellent customer service. In 2020, they worked as an Information Technology Technician at Governor Morehead School. Here, they provided IT support and assistance. In 2021, they joined CAPTRUST as an Information Technology Support Associate, managing Mimecast Secure Messaging Portal accounts, investigating and mitigating phishing attempts, troubleshooting VPN clients, and initiating application whitelisting requests. In 2022, they transitioned to the role of a Security Engineer at CAPTRUST, where they engineer rules within SIEM, creates playbooks/logic apps in Azure Sentinel, monitors and investigates incidents on endpoints, and creates DLP policies within Mimecast.

James Quintana attended Wake Technical Community College from 2020 to 2021, with a focus on Cyber Security. James did not obtain a degree during this time. In addition to their college education, James also earned several certifications. In February 2020, they obtained the IBM New Collar Professional Skills certification. In March 2020, they obtained the CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) certification. In April 2021, they achieved the CompTIA A+ ce certification. Most recently, in November 2022, James obtained the CompTIA Security+ ce certification from CompTIA.
