James Mapes has had a long and successful career in the healthcare industry. James began their career in 1988 as Director of Generation for Iberdrola-NYSEG. In 1996, they moved to Prudential Insurance as Executive Director of Group CIO and Corporate Technology Services. In 2000, they joined American International Group as Vice President of Chief Information Officer for DBG, SBIO. From 2001 to 2009, they worked for Perot Systems as Executive Vice President of Global Healthcare and President of Perot Systems BPS. From 2009 to 2011, they worked for Anthem, Inc. as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Population Health. From 2011 to 2014, they worked for Optum as Senior Vice President of Operations for Payment/Revenue Integrity. From 2014 to 2017, they worked for Genpact (formerly GE Capital) as Executive Vice President of Global Healthcare and Life Sciences. From 2017 to 2019, they worked for Navigant Cymetrix as Chief Executive Officer and Global MD. Finally, in 2019 they joined Centauri Health Solutions, Inc. as Chief Operating Officer and HCFS President. As of 2022, they are the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Cara Care, a digital therapeutic that addresses gastroenterological issues.
James Mapes attended The State University of New York from 1985 to 1991, where they earned a BS in Secondary Education, Math, and Computer Science. James also attended Alfred State College - SUNY College of Technology from 1985 to 1986, where they earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) in Engineering Science. In 2002, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they earned an MIT Sloan in the Advanced Management Program (AMP). In 2011, they attended Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, where they earned an Exec Master of Health Administration in Leadership/ Executive Management.
