Marie-Angélique Deschamps has a diverse work experience in the field of chemistry. Marie-Angélique began their career as a Placement Student at the DCM (Département de Chimie Moléculaire) in 2014, where they conducted investigations into side-reactions during oligonucleotide deprotection and Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition.
In 2015, Marie-Angélique worked as a Placement Student at the Institut de Chimie de Nice (ICN), where they focused on the synthesis of fluorene derivatives as fluorescent probes for nucleic acid labelling. Marie-Angélique also gained experience in installing various electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups on the fluorene scaffold for the synthesis of push-pull probes.
In 2016, Marie-Angélique worked as a Final year placement at the DCM, where they primarily focused on the synthesis of Lactacystine and Salinosporamide A analogues. Marie-Angélique also worked on the synthesis of functionalized cyclobutanones using a [2+2] thermal cycloaddition between a ketene and enol ether.
From 2018 to 2019, they completed two Industrial Placements at Indivior and Redbrick Molecular. At Indivior, they worked for a brief period on unspecified tasks, while at Redbrick Molecular, they focused on the synthesis of borylated pyrazoles and isoquinolines using thermal cycloaddition of sydnones and 6-pi electrocyclisation of aza-triene.
Marie-Angélique then pursued a Postgraduate Researcher role at The University of Sheffield from 2016 to 2020. Their research project involved the derivatisation of naloxone, a morphine derivative, and included multi-step synthesis as well as the characterisation of complex molecules using techniques such as NMR and mass spectrometry.
After completing their postgraduate research, Marie-Angélique worked as a Research Chemist at Apex Molecular Ltd from 2020 to 2021. Their role primarily focused on organic synthesis and the characterisation of intermediates using NMR and mass spectrometry.
Most recently, Marie-Angélique is working as a Research Chemist at James Robinson Speciality Ingredients since 2021. In this role, they conduct research and works on projects related to chemistry.
Additionally, starting in 2023, Marie-Angélique will be taking on a Project Chemist role at CARBOGEN AMCIS, where they will likely be involved in project-based work related to chemistry.
Marie-Angélique Deschamps pursued their education in the field of Chemistry. Marie-Angélique began with a Bachelor's degree at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale, which they completed from 2010 to 2013. Following this, they enrolled at Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble I) and obtained a Master's degree in Chemistry during the years 2013 to 2016. Building upon their previous academic accomplishments, they proceeded to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry at The University of Sheffield from 2016 to 2020.
