Josh Merritt

Dr. Joshua Merritt joined Carbon in 2022 to lead the Manufacturing & Process Development group, which establishes, optimizes and transfers both development/screening scale and cGMP manufacturing processes. Dr. Merritt has over 20 years of experience in traditional (natural products, mAbs, therapeutic proteins) and complex (ADC, VLP, viral gene therapy vectors, edited cell therapies) biologics manufacturing, ranging from preclinical manufacturing platform development to post-commercial manufacturing support. Dr. Merritt has held escalating leadership roles at the National Institutes of Health Vaccine Research Center, Genzyme, MassBiologics, Pfizer, and CRISPR Therapeutics. He earned his B.S. at Tufts University; his M.S. at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell; and his Ph.D. from the University of Delaware, all in chemical engineering.
