Yousuf Aqeel has a strong background in biosciences and research. Yousuf is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Carbon Biosciences. Prior to this, they were an Analytical Scientist at Evelo Biosciences from 2019 to 2022.

In 2019, Yousuf worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Tufts Medical Center, where they focused on working with bacterial-based assays, in vitro cell-based assays, and animal models of infection.

From 2015 to 2018, Yousuf held the position of Postdoctoral Fellow at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. During this time, they established and maintained culture systems for clinically important pathogens, led projects related to Acanthamoeba encystation, developed collaborations with other institutions, and optimized various assays to understand complex molecular events.

In 2014, Yousuf worked as a Senior Research Fellow at Aga Khan University Hospital, conducting comprehensive literature reviews on amoebic infections and publishing findings in reputed journals.

Yousuf began their career as a Research Associate at Aga Khan University Hospital in 2009, where they designed and conducted experiments related to Sulfolobus Spindle Shaped Virus (SSV1) and presented their findings in departmental seminars.

Additionally, in 2009, Yousuf worked as an Assistant Technologist at Liaquat National Hospital & Medical College, handling patient samples, performing diagnostic assays, and managing patient records.

Yousuf Aqeel began their educational journey in 2004 when they enrolled at Karachi University. Yousuf pursued a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, General and completed the program in 2006. After this, they continued their studies at the same university and obtained a Master's degree in Molecular Genetics between 2006 and 2008. Yousuf furthered their academic pursuits at Aga Khan University in 2010, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Microbiology. Their doctoral studies were completed in 2014, marking the end of their formal education journey as we know it.
