John Denton

Computer Science And IT Lecturer at Cardiff and Vale College

John Denton has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. John started their career in 1985 as an Analyst/Programmer at Milequip Computer Systems, where they developed and implemented bespoke software for government departments. In 1986, they worked as an RPG Programmer at Target Computer Group, writing banking software for offshore establishments. Shortly after, they joined Hewlett-Packard, where they held various roles including Systems Analyst/Programmer, Senior Applications Specialist, and Server and Network Manager. John worked at Hewlett-Packard for over 15 years and gained experience in programming, application support, and network management.

In 2013, John transitioned to the education sector and worked as an ICT Teacher at Apollo Teaching. John then moved on to become the Head of Computer Science at Saint David's Sixth Form Catholic College in 2017. In 2018, they joined The College Merthyr Tydfil as an A Level and HND Computer Science Teacher, where they taught computer science and networking concepts to students.

Throughout their career, John Denton has also worked as an IT Technical Analyst at CGI, a Technical Support Engineer at ITCS (UK) Ltd, and an ICT & Computing Teacher at ESS Teaching Agency. John'smost recent position is as a Computer Science, ICT, and Access to Digital Technologies Teacher/Lecturer at Cardiff and Vale College, where they currently teach.

John Denton attended Upper Rhondda (Treorchy) Comprehensive School from 1978 to 1980. John then went on to earn a HND in Computer Studies from the Polytechnic of Wales from 1982 to 1985. Later, from 2009 to 2012, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) (Hons) in Computer Science from The University of South Wales (formerly Glamorgan). Finally, in 2013 to 2014, they obtained a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in ICT with Computing from Cardiff Metropolitan University.
