Mark Friend

Mark Friend has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Mark currently holds the position of Head of Infection Prevention and Control Secondary Care Services at Practice Plus Group, which they started in February 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the National Operational Infection Prevention and Control Lead at the same company from December 2020.

Before joining Practice Plus Group, Mark worked at Care UK for a significant period. Their roles there include Governance and Quality Lead, Safeguarding Lead, and Infection Prevention and Control Nurse. Mark also served as the Lead Nurse for two Minor Injuries Units, where they managed staff, handled complaints, conducted audits, and ensured clinical governance. Additionally, they worked as a Clinical Nurse Educator, Senior Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Practitioner at Care UK.

Mark also has experience working at Nuffield Health, where they served as an Occupational Health Nurse, Infection Control Nurse, Ward Manager, and Senior Staff Nurse. Furthermore, they worked at Yeovil District Hospital as a Senior Staff Nurse in the Accident and Emergency department, and at Whittal Street Clinic as an HIV Manager.

Throughout their career, Mark has gained experience in various aspects of healthcare, including infection prevention and control, staff management, clinical education, and occupational health. Mark has developed strong skills in assessments, treatments, prescribing medications, suturing, and health counseling.

Mark Friend has a diverse education history. Mark completed a PG Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control at the University of Essex Online in 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's degree in Dermatology from the University of South Wales between 2019 and 2020. In 2013 to 2015, they pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Nurse Practitioner at Bournemouth University. Mark also holds a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health Nursing from the University of the West of Scotland (2008-2009). Additionally, they obtained a Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing from the University of Warwick (2002-2004) and a Diploma in Infection Control Nursing from London South Bank University (2000-2002).
