Maya Miller

Maya Miller is currently the Accounting Director at CareCar, but they have also worked as an Integrated Health Peer Navigator at JFCS. In this previous role, they successfully managed a case load of 90 clients with multiple chronic diagnoses. Maya used motivational interviewing and active listening skills to achieve positive outcomes with their clients. 80% of clients who reported smoking cigarettes began the processes of quitting tobacco usage while under their care.

Maya has excellent communication skills and exercises good judgment in challenging situations. Maya is also a skilled presenter, having prepared and presented wellness and stress-management programs, including Stanford's Healthy Living workshop. As a coach, Maya has helped 90% of clients who reported high cholesterol levels to lower their lipid levels by 10-15%. Maya has also provided nutrition support to clients who reported a lack of food in the home.

Maya has worked with and advocated for refugee clients during medical visits. Maya has also worked to find private donors of clothing and other needed items for clients enrolled in the Integrated Health Program. Through their work, 90% of clients have developed a relationship with their Primary Care Physician and other medical specialists. Additionally, 90% of clients diagnosed with type two diabetes lowered their A1c values while enrolled in the Integrated Health program.

Maya has also worked with clients diagnosed with Hepatitis C to ensure they developed a relationship with a primary care doctor and specialist. Maya has also worked with members of the refugee population diagnosed with

Maya Miller has a B.A. in Sociology from SUNY at Buffalo and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing from University of Phoenix. Maya also has certification from the Tobacco Treatment Specialist in Freedom From Smoking Facilitator, SAMHSA in WHAM Facilitator (Whole Health Action Management), Magellan in MBH Motivational Interviewing Facilitation, American Lung Association in Open Airways For Schools, Greater Valley Health Education Center in Diabetes Management Faciliatator, Healthy Heart Facilitator, American Lung Association in NOT on Tobacco Teen Tobacco Cessation Facilitator, Magellan in MBH LIving Well With Diabetes, and Standford School of Medicine in Chronic Disease Self Management (CDSMP).
