Russell Hobson has extensive work experience in various roles within Cargill and the US Navy. Russell started their career in 1989 in the US Navy's Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and worked there until 1995. Russell then joined Cargill Inc., M&C Sweeteners as a Quality Assurance professional from 1998 to 2000. From 2000 to 2003, they worked as a Research Scientist at Cargill. In 2003, they joined Cargill Inc., NatureWorks LLC. as a Production Supervisor and worked there until 2009. Since 2009, Russell has been with Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate, Inc. Russell has held various positions within the company, including Department Head from 2009 to 2016, Production Excellence Leader in 2016, Facility Manager from 2016 to 2020, Regional Operations Manager from 2020 to 2021, and currently serves as the Director of Strategic Initiatives.

Russell Hobson's education history includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Sioux Falls, which they obtained between 1995 and 1997. Russell then pursued further education and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management from Creighton University between 2007 and 2009. Prior to their university studies, Russell Hobson completed their high school education at O'Gorman High School from 1982 to 1986, where they obtained their High School diploma.
