Idit Sagiv Barfi, PhD

Senior Scientist II at Cargo

Idit Sagiv Barfi, PhD, has extensive work experience in the field of life sciences. Idit is currently a Senior Scientist II at Syncopation Life Sciences, Inc. since March 2022. Previously, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine from May 2012 to March 2022, where they gained valuable research experience. Prior to that, they were a PhD student at Hebrew University from September 2002 to March 2012 under the supervision of Professor Levitzki. During their PhD studies, they successfully identified and synthesized a highly potent, small molecule that specifically inhibits T cell proliferation, which has potential applications in the treatment of T cell malignancies and prevention of graft rejections and GVHD.

Idit Sagiv Barfi, PhD, has an extensive education history. Idit obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem from 2001 to 2004, specializing in the development of assays for inhibitors of the Jak2 signaling pathway. Idit continued their studies at the same university and earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from 2004 to 2006, focusing on the synthesis of novel antigen-specific T cell proliferation inhibitors. Dr. Barfi further pursued their education at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from 2006 to 2012. Their doctoral research centered on novel T cell proliferation inhibitors for the treatment of autoimmunity and graft rejection.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Dr. Barfi also obtained a certification in "Writing in the Sciences" from Coursera in November 2012.
