Head Of Food Security at Caritas Schweiz

Henry Mulwa has extensive experience in the field of food security and livelihoods. Henry has worked in various organizations, starting in 1995 as a Farm Manager at Kakumu Farm, where they were responsible for the production and marketing of cashew nuts, bixa, vegetables, fruits, as well as beef and dairy cattle.

From 2001 to 2005, they worked at World Vision Kenya as a Food Security Team Leader, where they identified business potential for agriculture-based rural enterprises, enhanced income generation and food security for communities, and assisted in the identification of training requirements for entrepreneurs.

Henry then joined Kenya Agricultural Productivity as a District Service Unit (DSU) Coordinator from 2005 to 2008, where they monitored project progress, prepared financial reports, and ensured project implementation was in line with the work plan.

From 2011 to 2014, Henry worked as a Regional Program Manager at Christian Child Care International and later as a Program Manager at World Concern Development Organization. In these roles, they were responsible for overseeing programs and projects related to food security and livelihoods.

In 2014, Henry worked as a Pro Bono Consultant for Kwale Development Forum, providing expertise in food security and livelihoods.

Subsequently, they worked at Samaritan Purse from 2015 to 2015 as a Food Security and Livelihoods Program Manager in South Sudan, and at Caritas Schweiz from 2015 to present as the Head of Food Security. In these roles, they managed food security and livelihood programs, provided technical support, collaborated with local authorities and UN organizations, and contributed to the planning and development of food security plans.

Since 2016, Henry has been working at Tearfund South Sudan as a Food Security and Livelihoods Advisor, where they manage food security and livelihood programs, provides technical support, and collaborates with various stakeholders to identify needs in the food security and livelihoods area.

Henry Mulwa has a diverse education history that spans several decades. In 1986, they attended St. Mary's Seminary, where they did not pursue a specific degree or field of study. From 1990 to 1995, they enrolled at Egerton University in Kenya, where they obtained a B.Sc in Agriculture. In 1995, they also completed a certificate course in Office Computer Applications at Egerton University. Later, in 2008 and 2009, Henry pursued a Masters of Science in Development Policy with a focus on Agriculture and Rural Project planning and development at the University of Reading. In 2019, they took a certificate course in the Cash Transfer Program at CaLP.
