Carl-Johan Nakamura has a diverse work experience in various companies and positions. Starting in 2011, they worked as an Associate at Federal Street Capital. From 2012 to 2015, they held multiple roles at Siemens Healthineers, including Director and Head of Data & Analytics. In 2015, Nakamura became the first Chief Data Officer at Cerner Corporation, where they built the enterprise data and analytics office. Carl-Johan then moved on to serve as the SVP/CDO at Syntelli Solutions Inc. for a brief period in 2017. From 2017 to 2018, they were a Member of the Management Board at Penn State University. In 2017, Nakamura also joined IBM as the Head of Product Management & Data Management, and later as the Head of Data Science & Data Governance. In 2021, they became the Chief Data Officer at ZEISS Group and a member of the Supervisory Board at MIT CDOIQ Program. In 2023, Nakamura joined the Advisory Boards at Informatica and Evanta, a Gartner Company.

Carl-Johan Nakamura holds a Master of Science degree in Information Systems from New York University. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business at Harvard University. Carl-Johan also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Management from Nottingham Trent University. Carl-Johan Nakamura's earlier education includes studying Business Management at both Bromma Gymnasium and Tensta Gymnasium. Carl-Johan also obtained a German Language Certificate (B2) from Ulmer Volkshochschule.
