Juna Kollmeier

Carnegie Theoretical Astrophysics Center Founding Director at Carnegie Institution for Science

Juna Kollmeier is an esteemed astronomer currently serving as the Founding Director of the Carnegie Theoretical Astrophysics Center and as a director at the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, roles held since January 2018 and January 2017, respectively. Kollmeier has also directed the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics and held a professorship at the University of Toronto from February 2021 to March 2024. Previous positions include Visiting Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study, Carnegie-Princeton Fellow at the Carnegie Institution for Science, and Hubble Fellow at NASA. Juna Kollmeier's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Caltech and a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from The Ohio State University.
