Anthony Frank, MD MBA FACEP CPE FAAPL has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Anthony is currently serving as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Campbell University, School of Osteopathic Medicine since November 2022.

Prior to this role, Dr. Frank held senior leadership positions at UNC Health Blue Ridge from October 2021 and Carolinas HealthCare System from July 2019, where they served as the Senior Vice President Medical Affairs/Chief Medical Officer. In these positions, they provided expertise in navigating and balancing hospital and medical staff priorities within the health system.

Additionally, in both UNC Health Blue Ridge and Carolinas HealthCare System, Dr. Frank served as the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for the systems' graduate medical education programs, overseeing the training of internal medicine residents, gastroenterology fellows, and geriatric fellows.

Before their roles in hospital administration, Dr. Frank worked at East Carolina University from September 2006. There, they served as a Clinical Assistant Professor and provided instructional support to emergency medicine residents and emergency medicine/internal medicine residents. Anthony was also involved in multiple investigational studies and research projects.

At East Carolina University, Dr. Frank held various leadership roles, including Vice Chairman of ED Clinical Operations and ED Medical Director at Vidant Medical Center. In these positions, they provided operational leadership, collaborated with hospital and nursing leadership, and oversaw ED medical directors' activities.

Dr. Frank also worked at Vidant Health, where they served as the Regional Emergency Department Medical Director and Medical Director of the ED Chest Pain Unit. In these roles, they provided system leadership and oversight for multiple emergency departments within Vidant Medical Group and affiliated hospitals. Anthony also played a key role in planning and implementing an observation unit in the ED.

During the earlier part of their career, Dr. Frank was the Medical Director at Craven Regional Medical Center, where they provided medical oversight and direction to the emergency department.

Anthony Frank has an extensive education history in the medical and business fields. Anthony obtained their BA in Chemistry/Computer Science from Washington and Lee University in 1990. Following this, they attended Eastern Virginia Medical School and obtained their MD degree in 1994.

Dr. Frank then pursued further training in the field of Emergency Medicine through a Post Doctorate Training program at the University of South Carolina from 1994 to 1997. This residency program allowed him to gain specialized knowledge and practical experience in the field.

In 2018, Dr. Frank decided to expand their expertise beyond medicine and enrolled in the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst, where they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

Dr. Frank has also obtained several certifications throughout their career, showcasing their commitment to continuous professional development. Notably, they became certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 2018. Anthony also pursued additional certifications in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine from the same institution, with the most recent subspecialty certification being obtained in December 2020.

In terms of leadership and executive credentials, Dr. Frank completed the Foundations in Physician Leadership program offered by the Healthcare Experience Foundation in March 2022. Furthermore, they obtained the Certified Physician Executive designation from the American Association for Physician Leadership in February 2018.
