Varun Nagendra

Varun Nagendra is the current Vice President of Product (Games) at Carry1st. Varun has over eight years of experience in the gaming industry, with a focus on product management and game development.

Nagendra began their career as a Studio Director at Bigpoint GmbH in June 2014. In this role, they oversaw the development of multiple mobile games, including the successful title "Battlestar Galactica Online". Varun remained in this position for five years before moving to Scopely in June 2019.

As Executive Producer at Scopely, Nagendra was responsible for managing the development and live operations of multiple games. Varun oversaw a team of 50+ people and helped to grow the company's revenue by 25% year-over-year. In September 2020, they left Scopely to join Wooga as their first Game Director.

In their current role at Wooga, Nagendra leads a team of 80+ people on the development of "June's Journey", Wooga's most successful game to date. Varun is also responsible for the game's product strategy, feature roadmap, and live ops/monetization. Under their leadership, June's Journey has experienced +25% YoY growth in revenue.

In addition to their work at Wooga, Nagendra is also an adjunct professor at the Berlin International Gaming Academy, where they teach a course on game design and development.

Varun Nagendra completed their undergraduate degree in Business Management with a concentration in marketing from Christ University in Bangalore, India. Varun is currently pursuing their MBA at the same school.
