Andy Stewart

VP, Research at Cartesian Therapeutics

Andy Stewart is the VP of Research at Cartesian Therapeutics. Andy has over fifteen years of experience in the field of protein therapeutics, with a focus on inflammatory and autoimmune disorders, neural repair and regeneration. Prior to joining Cartesian, Andy was a Senior Scientist at LEUKOSIGHT, INC., where they were responsible for devising the R&D strategy, designing protocols, overseeing in house and contracted work, and reporting findings to the Board. Andy also played a key role in the development of models for assessment of activity and mechanism of action, as well as in vitro bioassays for product validation. Andy's previous experience also includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, where they investigated the role of inflammation in the tumor microenvironment and analyzed the role of intestinal microbiota in conditioning of the immune system. Andy has alsoconceptualized, planned, analyzed and reported research studies, securing supplemental funding and presenting research in oral and written reports. In addition to their research experience, Andy has also mentored and trained post-doctoral and clinical fellows, students and technicians under collaborative and advisory settings.

Andy Stewart has a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Natural Sciences from the same school.

They are on a team with Albina Benson - Senior Director, Manufacturing, Miloš Miljković - Chief Medical Officer, and Michael Singer - Chief Scientific Officer. Andy Stewart reports to Murat Kalayoglu, President & CEO.
