Data Engineer at CAS

Kevin Hawthorne has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Kevin is currently employed as a Data Engineer at CAS since August 2022. Prior to that, Kevin worked at Workstate from October 2019 to July 2022, where they served as a Senior Consultant. Kevin also held roles as an Associate Consultant and Junior Consultant during their tenure at Workstate. At Workstate, Kevin worked on feature enhancements for the enterprise Java / AngularJS application STNext, analyzed existing code, designed and implemented new features and tests, and maintained a suite of end-to-end tests. Kevin collaborated extensively with product owners, technical leads, and colleagues to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and coordinate work between teams.

Before joining Workstate, Kevin worked as an Associate Professor of Humanities at Mount Vernon Nazarene University from August 2010 to May 2018. In this role, they taught courses across the humanities and in the general education core, developed curricula, presented lectures, led discussions, and evaluated student work. Kevin also chaired the Faculty Development Committee, organized learning and collaboration events for colleagues, evaluated grant and sabbatical applications, and provided leadership in major general education course revisions.

Prior to Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Kevin served as a Visiting Professor in the Integrated Program in Humane Studies at Kenyon College from August 2009 to May 2010. Kevin also worked as an Assistant Professor of Classics at Baylor University from August 2004 to May 2009. In this role, Kevin taught courses in ancient Greek language and literature and Western Humanities. Kevin led colleagues and organized events for Baylor Latin Day and co-organized a multi-department colloquium.

Kevin started their career in academia as a Visiting Instructor of Classics at Dartmouth College from August 2002 to May 2003. Kevin then worked as an Instructor and Course Assistant in Classics at the University of Chicago from August 1996 to May 2001. Kevin began their professional journey as a Course Assistant in Classics at The University of Texas at Austin from August 1994 to May 1995.

Kevin Hawthorne attended Howard Payne University from 1986 to 1991, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. Kevin then pursued further education at The University of Texas at Austin from 1991 to 1995, earning a Master of Arts degree in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics. Following this, they attended the University of Chicago from 1995 to 2004, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics. Finally, in 2018, Kevin completed a Java Web Application Development Bootcamp at Tech Elevator.
