Gabriela Roque has served and advocated for immigrant and working-class communities since 2013. Starting at the Asian American Center of Frederick as an Americorps volunteer, Gabriela led community events and student initiatives around issues of poverty and health. In 2015, she continued to broaden her community work at Goucher College, where she tutored incarcerated students in Peace Studies, led ESOL afterschool programs and became a certified Maryland Mediator. After becoming the first person in her family to obtain a bachelor’s degree, Gabriela dedicated herself to organizing, first working at a progressive labor union before joining CASA in 2018.
