Lisa J. Knoll, PhD

Lisa J. Knoll, PhD has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of data science and cognitive neuroscience. Lisa J. is currently serving as the Director of Data Science at CASAFARI since October 2021. Prior to this role, they worked at Hitachi Vantara as a Manager and Senior Data Scientist from January 2018 to September 2021. Lisa J. also had various roles at Hitachi Vantara, including Data Analytics Lead and Data Scientist.

Before joining Hitachi Vantara, Lisa worked as a Data Science Contractor for various companies from June 2017 to July 2021. Lisa J. was also a Data Science Fellow at ASI Data Science for a brief period in 2017.

Lisa's earlier experience includes working as a Cognitive Neuroscience Postdoctoral Research Associate at UCL from October 2012 to April 2017. During this time, they led multiple large-scale research studies, coordinated data collection, conducted data analysis using various tools, programmed experimental studies, and published extensively in high-impact journals. Lisa J. also provided consultancy and expert advice on brain development to media outlets like BBC.

Before their postdoctoral role, Lisa was a Cognitive Neuroscience Ph.D. student at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences. Their doctoral research focused on studying the brain mechanisms and structures involved in language processing in the developing and adult brain.

Lisa also briefly worked as a German language teacher at FiPP e.V. in Berlin, Germany.

Throughout their career, Lisa has developed expertise in data science, including skills in R, Matlab, SPM, Cogent, and SPSS. Lisa J. has a strong background in conducting research, leading projects, and delivering presentations to both lay and professional audiences.

Lisa J. Knoll, PhD has an extensive education history. Lisa J. earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Cognitive Science from the University of Potsdam in 2013. Prior to that, they obtained a Magister degree in German Language Teacher Education from the University of Potsdam from 2001 to 2009. Additionally, they pursued Magister Artium degrees in Art History from Freie Universität Berlin (2002-2008) and in German Linguistics / Media Science from the University of Potsdam (2001-2008).

Lisa J. also had the opportunity to study abroad at Universidad Complutense de Madrid on an Erasmus program in 2005-2006.

In terms of certifications, Lisa obtained a certification in Data Science Foundations: Data Mining from LinkedIn in November 2016. Lisa J. is also a Microsoft Certified Azure AI Engineer Associate, having obtained this certification from Microsoft in June 2021. Furthermore, they hold the Microsoft Certified Azure Data Scientist Associate certification, which they attained in April 2021.
