We are adding an Paint & Coatings Assistant to our Liverpool, NY, production operation. The Paint & Coatings Assistant is responsible for assisting the Paint and Coating Technician in all paint booth related job functions.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and operate paint booth, oven, filters, paint guns, equipment, and paint mixing area according to established practices.
  • Prepare, match colors, and mix standard and other primers, paints and coatings to proper consistency and viscosity, using thinners, solvents, additives, and agitators as required.
  • Assist in the development of workflow and lean processes to establish efficiencies and create consistent quality products.
  • Uniformly apply wet primers, paints, and wet or dry coatings to parts and components and other items using care to avoid over spraying/coating and to obtain a smooth, covered and even surface free from runs and thin spots. Repeat operations as necessary to obtain desired effect or thickness of paint.
  • Ensure the proper movement of finished goods to inspection or warehouse area.
  • Visually and mechanically check finished items for pin holes, runs, bare spots, proper coverage. Refinish and touch up as required.
  • Plan, organize, and execute work to complete painting within the specified timeframes.
  • Track products tested to ensure product sampling complies with the test sampling plan.
  • Train on and perform new technologies and methods as directed.
  • Work cooperatively with a wide variety of people and provide support to other production functions as needed.
  • Overtime may be required as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, communicate and comprehend written and verbal procedures and instructions in.
  • OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation required.
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a similar painting environment is preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Physical surroundings are typical of a paint shop operation environment, including frequent exposure to toxic chemicals. This role involves the following physical demands on a regular basis:

  • Working while wearing PPE, such as respirators, for up to 7 hours out of 8 hours per day.
  • Working in an environment with moderate noise level up to 7 hours out of 8 hours per day.
  • Steadily and carefully manipulate tools and materials up to 7 hours of 8 hours per day.
  • Frequently positioning self to perform required tasks up to 7 hours out of 8 hours per day.
  • Remaining in a stationary position up to 7 hours out of 8 hours per day.
  • Inspecting materials at close distance and accurately identify and match color mixtures.
  • Communicating accurately, efficiently, and effectively with coworkers and managers.
  • Frequently ascending and descending on a ladder to clean and maintain equipment.
  • Must be able to transport and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
