Lauren Mehalek

Lauren Mehalek is an experienced educator specializing in visual impairments and orientation and mobility. Currently serving as an Itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired and Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist at CASE: Cooperative Association for Special Education since May 2019, Lauren has previously held positions as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments at Echo Joint Agreement and Springfield Public School District 186. Responsibilities have included creating Individualized Education Plans, collaborating with various stakeholders, administering assessments, and providing instruction on essential life skills and technology to students aged 3-18. Lauren holds a Master of Education in Orientation and Mobility/Vision Rehabilitation Therapy from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Education in Special Education for the Low Vision and Blind from Illinois State University.
