Johnny Burton

Johnny Burton has five years of work experience in the IT industry. Johnny began their career in 2008 as a Network Engineer 3 and Level 1 Engineer at Comcast Cable, where they were responsible for configuring and troubleshooting Internet connectivity. In 2009, they took on the role of an Independent IT Consultant at Barbeau Enterprises, Inc., where they replaced Harris Bank's network computers and was part of the team that worked on network configuration during the merger between WaMu and Chase Banks. In 2012, they became a Network Engineer at Gogo, where they configured, monitored, and alerted for supporting and securing a computer network with multiple on-prem Data Centers, AWS Cloud, and over 300 remote locations Globally. In 2017, Johnny became a Network Engineer at Brightstar Corp., where they designed traffic flows for custom applications configuring secure routing, switching, monitoring, and alerting to support a hybrid computer network with on-prem data centers, AWS, Azure Cloud, and remote locations globally. Currently, Johnny is a Network Security Manager at Casechek, where they lead the design, deployment, and monitoring for supporting a cloud infrastructure in AWS, is the SME for providing security best practices and following the CIS and NIST benchmarks, and provides a layered security approach in a zero-trust environment.

Johnny Burton has a comprehensive education history. Johnny began their studies in 2008 at Cisco Learning Networks, where they earned a CCNA, CCNP R&S, and CCNA Security in the field of Computer Networking and Security. In 2017, they obtained a Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) from Palo Alto Learning Network. In 2018, they earned an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from IaaS Academy in the field of AWS. Johnny is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity from Western Governors University, which they are expected to complete in 2022. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications from CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, and AWS Certified Security - Specialty.
