Josep Desquens is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in development cooperation and management. Currently serving as the Director General for Development Cooperation at the Generalitat de Catalunya since July 2021, Josep leads the design and implementation of development policies and humanitarian initiatives with an annual budget of €37.5 million. Previous roles include Deputy Director at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, where responsibilities encompassed corporate strategy and financial management, and Programme Manager at the European Commission, focusing on EU-funded development programs. Josep's earlier experiences include significant positions at the International Finance Corporation and the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo, alongside roles in corporate finance at Rothschild & Co and Salomon Brothers. Josep holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, a Diploma in International Business from HEC Paris, and a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Business Administration from Esade.
