Charlie Wood

Charlie Wood, PhD, is an experienced leader in research and development, currently serving as the Director of Artificial Intelligence Research & Development at Caterpillar Inc. since September 2024. Previously, Charlie held the position of Vice President of Innovation at SyBridge Technologies and Senior Director of Research & Development at Fast Radius, where responsibilities included guiding technology investments and advancing manufacturing intelligence strategies. With a robust background at Motorola as a Staff Hardware Engineer and a significant academic foundation as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University, Charlie specializes in mechanical engineering, advanced computational techniques, and product innovation. Charlie earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and holds a Certificate in Management for Scientists and Engineers, alongside a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Union College.
