Ellen Rubin

Ellen Rubin has extensive work experience in the technology industry. Ellen is currently the Founder & CEO of Causely, where they are building the IT industry’s first causal AI platform for cloud application management. Prior to Causely, Ellen served as an Independent Board Member at Chase Corporation and Corvus Insurance, where they provided non-executive directorship and expertise in the specialty chemicals and insurtech industries, respectively.

Ellen is also an active early-stage investor and advisor. Ellen has invested in and worked with various startups, including Promethium Data, FeatureByte, Metrika, and CipherMode Labs. Additionally, Ellen co-founded Pillar VC, a seed-stage firm consisting of top Boston CEOs and leaders, where they serve as an advisor, board member, mentor, and customer to the portfolio companies.

Earlier in their career, Ellen held leadership positions at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where they served as GM of the Storage Gateway and DataSync services. In this role, they managed all aspects of the data transfer and gateway services, facilitating the connection between AWS customers in on-premises and cloud environments. Prior to AWS, Ellen co-founded ClearSky Data, a cloud storage-as-a-service company, where they served as CEO and successfully raised three rounds of funding.

Ellen began their career as the Founding CEO and VP of Products at CloudSwitch. Ellen co-founded the company and secured venture funding, leading to the successful launch of their product and the establishment of partnerships with early customers and partners. Before CloudSwitch, Ellen was the VP of Cloud Products at Verizon, overseeing the integration of CloudSwitch into the Terremark cloud division.

Throughout their career, Ellen has also served as an advisor and mentor to various startups in the Boston area. Ellen enjoys supporting other entrepreneurs and sharing their experiences to help them navigate the challenges of building a successful business.

Ellen Rubin obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies from Harvard University, where they attended from 1986 to 1990. After completing their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education at Harvard Business School, earning their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, which they obtained from 1993 to 1995.
