Elizabeth (Liz) Burton

Director of Development at CCARC

Liz Burton has a long and varied work experience. Elizabeth (Liz) began their career in 2002 as the Owner/Manager of Harbor Books, where they were responsible for all facets of business development and management. During their time there, they established and maintained strategic partnerships with major internet vendors, increasing annual sales revenue by 30%. Elizabeth (Liz) also strengthened collaborative working relationships within the community by designing and launching events relevant to the citizens of Old Saybrook.

In 2008, Liz moved on to become an Account Manager at Scholastic Book Fairs, where they developed, retained and expanded accounts in an assigned territory valued at $2.5 million spanning four counties and 429 schools.

In 2010, Liz took on the role of Account Manager, Donor Recruitment, and Sales at the American Red Cross. In this role, they developed and implemented effective strategies to attract, recruit, retain and manage sponsor organizations for Red Cross Blood Drives. During their time there, they increased annual blood unit donations by 11% annually.

In 2015, Liz became the Volunteer Services Lead at Foodshare, where they were responsible for recruiting, retaining, training and recognizing volunteers to meet the high daily demand.

In 2016, Liz moved on to become the Corporate Partnerships Manager at the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. In this development executive role, they were responsible for planning and executing strategies to build the brand/reputation of the United Way and drive revenue from four sources.

In 2020, Liz took on the role of Director of Community Engagement at MARC Community Resources, LTD., a private non-profit organization dedicated to providing programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Most recently, Liz began their role as Director of Development at both CCARC, Inc. and Middlesex United Way in 2022.

Elizabeth Burton holds a Bachelor's degree in Communications and Marketing from the University of Dayton.
