Brandon Hatcher is a seasoned professional in laboratory safety and biosafety management, currently serving as the Director of Laboratory Safety and Deputy Director at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since November 2020. Previously, Brandon held positions as Lead Scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton and Biosafety Officer at GSK, where a significant achievement included leading the implementation of GSK standards and establishing a comprehensive biosafety program. Earlier experience includes serving as Assistant Biosafety Officer at the University of Maryland, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, and graduate studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, culminating in a Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology. Brandon's early career also encompassed roles as a research technician at the University of Chicago and a contract observer for the National Marine Fisheries Service.
