Director of Information Technology

Position Summary

Responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of all IT functions. This includes identifying the organization’s IT needs, deploying new solutions, enhancing existing solutions, and ensuring technical issues are resolved as efficiently as possible to minimize employee and operational impact. Additionally, the Director of IT will recommend technology solutions based on Company requirements, strategic goals, and user/customer needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Effectively manage all technology operations within the Company, including overseeing IT staff (project managers, application developers, support technicians, and third-party vendors/suppliers) for completion of day-to-day support and operational tasks. Manage network, security, server, workstation, software, hardware, licensing, mobile phone, backup and disaster recovery systems. Negotiate contracts and pricing with external vendors and IT partners. Lead procurement and deployment activities for all aforementioned technical categories.

Provide escalation support, communication updates, and root cause analysis to executive management in support of continuous improvement initiatives. Direct IT in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Ensure the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards and procedures for implementing technical solutions; maintain Company hardware and software programs and standards.

Analyze complex business needs presented by the user community and/or customers and recommend technical solutions; identify technology needs and provide technology solutions for scalability within all business units while ensuring compliance with Company policies and 3rd party audits.

Implement Company-wide technology systems and updates and hold sessions to teach employees about new features. Enable and continually enhance security controls while proactively/reactively addressing vulnerabilities, risks, account compromises, and other high-priority scenarios.

Evaluate and monitor the Company’s adherence to federal and international information security requirements. Lead efforts to obtain information security certifications such as ISO 27001, TISAX, or others.

Partner closely with various internal and external teams to deliver just-in-time technology solutions. Create and foster strong working relationships with Human Resources, Legal, Operations, Software Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and other orgs to anticipate future technical requirements and proactively deliver solutions to meet and exceed business expectations.  

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; minimum of 10 years in an IT role supporting and scaling technology-centric organizations; manufacturing-focused organization is a plus.
  • Five or more years experience as an IT Director or similar senior IT leadership role
  • Experience with data compilation, analytics, and making data-based decisions.
  • Technical certifications as applicable to the role
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with the following solutions:
    • Microsoft Active Directory/Azure
    • Microsoft Office 365 productivity applications
    • Enterprise network solutions (Cisco/Meraki experience a plus)
    • Windows 10/11 (macOS experience a plus)
    • Windows Server
    • Virtualization software and hardware (VMware/ESX experience a plus)
    • Enterprise Resource Planning/ERP systems (Syspro experience a plus)
    • Security (camera and badge access) systems
    • Manufacturing Execution Systems/MES experience a plus

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in implementing effective and innovative software development and delivery methodologies and solutions
  • Proven ability to lead a progressive IT group
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to audiences of varying technical aptitude
  • Solid written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and initiatives and motivate professional staff.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex, multi-tiered issues and incidents.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Broad knowledge of data processing systems, concepts, and methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive and excel in a deadline-driven, fast-paced, and rapidly changing/growing environment.

Personal Protective Equipment 

PPE will be provided and is required to be used within certain areas of the manufacturing floor.

Work Environment

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to chemicals used to run/maintain machines.
