Manuela Berlanga

Manuela Berlanga has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research and business development. Manuela currently works at Celtarys Research as a Business Development Manager, where they develop and commercializes new chemical tools for drug discovery. Their role involves the development of tailor-suited fluorescent ligands for druggable targets, specifically GPCRs.

Prior to their current position, Manuela worked at GSK as a Scientist, focusing on SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis through RT qPCR and data processing for comprehensive information packages. Manuela also has experience at GlaxoSmithKline, where they held various roles, including Principal Scientist, Senior Scientist, Scientist, and Associate Scientist. In these positions, they worked on screening and compound profiling in the main therapeutic areas, selection of lead-like molecules, and served as a liaison for international and local matrix teams.

Manuela's work experience also includes their role as an Executive Manager and Nutritional Consultant at KilosOut. Manuela was responsible for strategic direction, business development initiatives, marketing strategies, and training a multidisciplinary business team in nutrition.

Additionally, they have contributed to the scientific community as a Mentor at TCOLF, where they supported visitor scientists and helped integrate them into GSK. Manuela was also a GSK Pulse volunteer Researcher with MVP-The Earth Institute at Columbia University, where they worked in Ghana for 6 months, setting up and running a Tropical Laboratory.

Manuela Berlanga earned their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Pharmacy from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where they studied from 1989 to 1995. In 2017 to 2018, they attended the Universidad Católica de Valencia San Vicente Mártir to pursue an Experto Universitario en Nutrición Clínica y Salud Nutricional, specializing in the field of Ciencias de la nutrición.

Manuela also completed a program in Community Change in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University School of Education in 2016. Additionally, they pursued an EMIP Master program at Vaughan Systems from 2013 to 2014.

Alongside their education, Manuela obtained several certifications. In April 2016, they received a certification in Project Management from BUCERO PM CONSULTING. In September 2013, they obtained a certification in Energy for Performance from Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute®. In September 2010, they received a certification in Effective Telephoning & Teleconferencing Skills from Read Matthews International. In March 2009, they completed a certification in First-line Leader Experience: Effective Decision Making & Coaching from the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute®. Lastly, in May 2008, Manuela obtained a certification in Effective Business Presentations from Read Matthews International.
