Barry Lewis

Barry Lewis, MD, MBA has a diverse work experience in various medical and healthcare organizations. Barry served as the Chief Medical Officer at Centene-Maryland Physicians Care starting in December 2019. Prior to that, they held the position of CMO at Amerigroup from October 2017. In this role, they were responsible for managing care programs and improving the medical loss ratio for the Medicaid plan. Barry also worked as an Anesthesiologist and Physician Advisor for Quality and Safety at Washington Hospital Center, starting in August 2003. Additionally, they served as the Chief Medical Officer at Evergreen Health Care from January 2017 to October 2017. Other experiences include being a Clinical Instructor at Johns Hopkins Hospital from January 2002 to July 2003, and a Faculty Attending at Sibley Memorial Hospital from August 1998 to July 2001. In January 2021, they assumed the position of Chief Medical Officer at Centene Corporation.

Barry Lewis, MD, MBA completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics at Vanderbilt University from 1986 to 1990. Following that, they pursued further education at Johns Hopkins Hospital where they obtained their ABA degree in Anesthesiology from 1995 to 1998. Later on, in 2009, they attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to earn their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business.
