Jennifer Norton has a diverse range of work experience in the field of education and language development. Most recently, they worked as the Associate Director of Multilingual Support at Center City Public Charter Schools starting in 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Director of the Department of English Learners and Multilingual Education at Montgomery County Public Schools from 2021 to 2022. Jennifer also worked as an English Second Language Instructor at Montgomery College in 2021. From 2018 to 2021, Jennifer held the position of English Learner Program Manager at the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). Jennifer's earlier experience includes working at the Center for Applied Linguistics as the Director of Test Development from 2013 to 2018, and as an Associate Director and Associate Manager in English Language Proficiency Test Development from 2008 to 2013. Jennifer started their career in education as a teacher at District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) from 2001 to 2004. Jennifer also has international experience, having served as an Agroforestry/Community Development Volunteer with the Peace Corps from 1999 to 2001.
Jennifer Norton has a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts (BSLA) with a focus on French and Linguistics from Georgetown University. Jennifer then pursued their Master of Education (EdM) in International Education Policy at Harvard Graduate School of Education. Jennifer later completed their Doctor of Education (EdD) in Curriculum & Instruction at The George Washington University.
